In spite of growing up in crushing poverty, Frank McCourt's memoir resonates with humor. Select one scene fromAngela’s Ashes in which the tone is both humorous and poignant. Include several short quotations of support but refrain from merely summarizing the plot. Write two double spaced pages. 20 points

Writing Prompt #2

Works of literature often depict disappointment, disillusionment, and despair. Kaled Hosseini portrays many instances of Hassan facing failure in his novel The Kite Runner. Nonetheless, Rahim Khan encourages Hassan to return to Afghanistan with the exhortation, “Come. There is a way to be good again.” After a careful reading of the novel, analyze whether or not Hassan achieves redemption. Include several short quotations of support but refrain from merely summarizing the plot. Write three double spaced pages. 30 points.
